One of the main things people have criticized about Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s project as coach of Mexico National Team is the stubbornness of the Argentinean coach of keep calling the same players over and over again, although they don’t perform as they should.

They might be having a great season with their clubs, or maybe they don’t even play, but that doesn’t matter for Martino, as he keeps calling them as he prefers to call people he knows, instead of trying new young promising players, and they all know their spot with El Tri is secure, so they don’t even pretend to be taking seriously the call.

That has made a lot of players, both young and experienced, decide to quit their dreams of playing for Mexico’s senior team. The most renowned is the name of Ricardo Pepi, who joined USMNT and already is excelling in his young career. But Richie Ledezma might be the next one who follows Pepi’s steps.

Who is Richard Ledezma?

The 21-year-old offensive midfielder currently plays for Dutch side PSV. He mostly plays for the Academy teams, he already debuted with the senior squad. He holds both Mexican and American passports, and although he’s done his process with the Stars and Stripes Academy teams, he hasn’t closed the door to join Mexico’s senior team in the future.
