Both Luis García and Christian Martinoli referenced the declarations of Miguel Herrera, who criticized the process of Gerardo Martino and the recent results of El Tri, while also raising the hand to take over the Aztec squad after asking for Martino’s dismissal.

After the goal of Uriel Antuna, when all the players run to celebrate with Gerardo “Tata” Martino, showing that they’re united and that are backing up the Argentine coach, the TV Azteca commentators didn’t waste the opportunity to answer some of the criticism that Martino has received.

The clearest of the comments came from Martinoli, who said that “everyone runs to hug the coach, showing that they respect his leadership and are backing up his project, especially after other people are nominating themselves to replace him just because.”

Martinoli has always severely criticized Herrera

During his stint as Mexico National Team coach, Christian Martinoli criticized the work of the Mexican coach, as there were visible weaknesses in his system that were evidenced especially in the 2015 Copa America, where they were eliminated in the group stage.

The severe criticism of Martinoli didn’t sit well with Miguel Herrera and his daughter, and after the 2015 Gold Cup, the two of them assaulted the TV commentator in the airport, when the were in line to board the plane back to Mexico.

That incident is what got Miguel Herrera sacked of the Mexican national team after less than two years of becoming the coach of El Tri and opened the door for the arrival of Juan Carlos Osorio, who was also criticized for his system, although he helped El Tri reach the World Cup without any problems.

Hugo Sánchez also received the criticism

Although neither Martinoli nor García mentioned any names, the criticism they did to Herrera also applies to Hugo Sánchez, as the pentapichichi also raised the hand to replace Martino, and he even said that he would do it for free, since there wasn’t a thing that he wouldn’t do for Mexico.
