After the elimination of FC Barcelona form the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League against Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt by a 4-3 aggregate, a team that currently stands 10 in Bundesliga, it was clear that things have to change in the Blaugrana squad.

With the elimination, Barcelona will finish the season without any titles, as they are eight points away from Real Madrid in La Liga, and the good streak that the Blaugranas have in the Spanish top division doesn’t seem to be enough to catch up with Los Merengues.
That’s why they’re already planning the 2022-23 season, as they know that another season without any titles won’t be tolerated by the followers and the management. Even if some of the changes have to do with the structure of the academy teams, Xavi knows that the squad needs some changes.
One of the doubts that Xavi Hernández has had since he arrived at Barcelona, is the continuity of the American right-back Sergiño Dest, who could be one of the first sacrificed from the current roster, as he knows that given his age and talent, they can earn back their investment.
The 21-year-old right-back has the remainder of the season to convince Xavi that he is worth keeping, but Hernández knows that his departure could give Barcelona at least $27 million that they could invest in other parts of the roster that will need to reinforce.
It’s yet to be seen what happens with Ousmane Dembélé, as the French winger is on the last months of his contract and hasn’t resumed the negotiations to extend his contract with the Blaugranas, which suggest that he’ll leave at the end of the season.
If Dembélé leaves, Hirving “Chucky” Lozano will arrive in Barcelona to replace him, as Xavi Hernández knows of his talent and the outstanding addition that he’ll be to the Catalonian team. His addition will only be possible thanks to the money that Dest’s departure leaves.
According to multiple reports, Napoli are not considering him for the next season and are looking to sell him over the summer, which opens the door to negotiating a lower transfer fee. For now, the Azzurri are asking for at least $38 million to let him go.
