Johan Vásquez is the only player that wants Carlos Acevedo as the starting goalkeeper of Mexico National Team

And given that Alexis Vega is part of the roster that Gerardo “Tata” Martino called to be part of the last CONCACAF Qualifiers games, the scouts that Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven sent to Mexico to watch him were also in CAR, closely following the training sessions.

It’s worth remembering that at the start of the year, Chivas and PSV made an agreement to exchange players and coaches from the academy teams, as well as establishing a commercial alliance. But part of that agreement gave the Dutch team the priority of signing Chivas players.

Alexis Vega could become the next Mexican that arrives in Eredivisie to join Erick Gutiérrez, although he might not arrive alone, as the PSV scouts were also impressed with the performance of other Mexican player at El Tri’s camp.

Who is the player that impressed them?

According to reports from TVC Deportes, the PSV scouts weren’t expecting to see a goalkeeper with the abilities of Carlos Acevedo, who left a great impression in what could be his chance of moving to Europe for the 2022-23 season.

Acevedo was linked over the past winter transfer window to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, but at the end the German team denied the reported interest. Nevertheless, that rumor opened the possibility of having a new goalkeeper in European soccer.

It’s no lie to say that Acevedo has the skills and abilities to leave Liga MX and make the jump to Europe, and at least for the moment, is the best Mexican goalkeeper, something that the scouts were able to corroborate firsthand.

Will Acevedo be part of the roster that goes to Qatar 2022?

It’s too early to determine if the 25-year-old goalkeeper will be part of the final roster that Martino calls to Qatar 2022, but if Acevedo manages to continue his career out of Liga MX, the possibilities for him will increase exponentially.
