At the end of Apertura 2021, Orbelín Pineda said goodbye to Cruz Azul and Liga MX to embark in a new adventure that would take him to Europe, to play in one of the most competitive leagues in the world: La Liga, where he joined Celta de Vigo.
Mexico National Team could get help to earn their ticket to Qatar 2022
Given his abilities, the obvious next step on his career was trying his luck in Europe, but no one imagined that Orbelín will follow the path of players like Diego Lainez or José Juan Macías, as they both weren't able to gain regularity with their teams.
But since his arrival in Celta de Vigo, Eduardo “Chacho” Coudet has been clear about how he feels of the addition of Pineda, as he’s said a few times that he didn’t request the addition of the 25-year-old left-winger, as Los Célticos already have players to fill that same spot.
That’s why Coudet said that they’re looking to find the Mexico international a place on the roster for the remainder of the season, as the probabilities of becoming a regular player in his current position are little to non-existing, which is why they’re trying to convert him to a forward instead of a winger.
It’s clear that “Chacho” Coudet won’t give him the chance of showing his abilities or earning a starting role if is not where Coudet wants to place him, which is why he will have to find somewhere else to play next season if he wants to gain regularity and be considered by Gerardo “Tata” Martino for the final roster of Mexico National Team.
Although Coudet also said that he’s trying to find a way to give Pineda more playing time, but if that doesn’t work the best thing he could do is leaving on a loan over the summer, as he signed with Celta de Vigo until 2027 and they don’t want to lose their investment.
Mexico National Team will face the last CONCACAF Qualifiers match window at the end of March in what will be one of the toughest games of the Qualifiers, as the result against USMNT will define it they will have direct access to Qatar 2022 or might have to wait until June to know their future.
They will also have to visit Honduras in Estadio Nacional, one of the most complicated venues for El Tri historically, although the Catrachos are having one of their worst participations in the CONCACAF Qualifiers in recent years, something that might benefit the Aztec squad.
Finally, they'll close their participation receiving El Salvador MNT in Estadio Azteca, a game that night be mere procedure given that some of the usual players in La Selecta are refusing to get called, as they know they are already eliminated, which will open the doors for El Tri to have an easy game, as they might face a U-20 squad.
PSG’s project for Lionel Messi was a failure, and now they want to replace him with a Mexican player
