Today, Mexico's 2022 jersey was leaked, which made all its fans wonder, how long has it been since El Tri last wore green? And the doubt is due to the colors they have been wearing recently.
Since a few years ago, the Mexican National Soccer Team has been wearing uniforms in which the predominant colors are black, white, and even Mexican pink.
However, the green color had been "forgotten" and had not been used for a long time, not even when the team led by Gerardo Martino played at home, so this is a long-awaited return to its roots.
According to the image that was leaked through social networks and in which Diego Lainez and Alfredo Talavera can be seen, the new uniform would have a green jersey, with the new shield of the Mexican National Team.
In addition, the uniform will have white shorts, while the socks have variations in green and red, respectively, which is the uniform with which the Mexican national team played for several years.
It has been 12 years since El Tri has worn green in its uniform, since the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa the predominant color has been black, and with that color, Mexico debuted against South Africa in that World Cup.
However, green is not the only color that the Mexican National Team has used in its international commitments, since in the first 3 World Cups in which El Tri played, the players wore a wine-colored uniform.
In Uruguay in 1930, Brazil in 1950, and Switzerland in 1954, this was the predominant color in the Mexican squad. And from the second half of the 50s onwards, the green uniform was the one the Mexican team started to wear as a home kit.
But while it is being confirmed if this will be the official uniform of the Mexican National Team or if it was just a test, Gerardo Martino's team still has to secure the pass to Qatar 2022.
And to do so, they must defeat El Salvador's national soccer team, in a match to be played this Wednesday, March 30 at the Azteca Stadium.
Once this match is over, it will be known whether El Tri will be able to go directly to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, or if it will have to play in the re-qualification match.
