Mexico National Team will face the last World Cup Qualifiers match window looking to finally secure their ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, something they will achieve if they manage to reach 25 points, something that seems more like possible, as they only are 4 points away.

Hirving “Chucky” Lozano wants this coach to replace Gerardo Martino in Mexico National Team

El Tri will have two games that seem to be easy to win, at least on paper, as they will visit Honduras, team that is already eliminated as they only have 3 points after 11 games, and then will receive El Salvador, who needs to win their three games and that both Panama and Costa Rica lose their three games.

That leaves the first game of the match window against USMNT as the biggest challenge, as they currently are tied in points with the Bars and Stripes, but the Americans have won the last three games they have played.

Gerardo “Tata” Martino knows that they need to win in Estadio Azteca not only to secure their direct ticket to Qatar 2022, but also because if they don’t win, his stint as Mexico National Team coach could come to an end.

Who can replace him?

According to the report of sports journalist Miguel Arizpe, in FMF won’t stand a new defeat against USMNT, which is why they’re already looking for a replacement for the Argentine coach, as they know that El Tri needs a coach that can boost the strengths of every player.

That’s why they are considering signing one of the best coaches that Liga MX currently has, as they know that even if Nicolás Larcamón doesn’t have much experience, he has established one of the best coaching systems in recent years.

Larcamón has coached Club Puebla for three tournaments, making them not only leave the bottom of the table but also become a real contender in Clausura 2022, where they’re standing third, just three points behind CF Pachuca, who are the current leaders.

What will it take to have Larcamón in El Tri’s bench?

Larcamón has stated in the past that one of his dreams is to coach a national team like the Mexican, but for now he’s focused on finishing Clausura 2022 with La Franja the best they can. Once the season is over, he’d be able to join any team that pays his release clause, that for now is set at $900,000.
