Even if Mexico National Team hasn't guaranteed their arrival in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, they are already looking to book friendly matches to prepare for Qatar 2022, as Gerardo "Tata" Martino claims that the level of CONCACAF isn't enough for El Tri.

The Aztec squad still has to face one of the toughest games of the year and the CONCACAF Qualifiers, as they will receive USMNT in Estadio Azteca on March 24, on a game that will decide if Martino stays in El Tri or not.

But if Mexico National Team manages to beat the Bars and Stripes and wins their games against El Salvador and Honduras, they still have another way to part ways with Martino, as they already agreed to at least one friendly match.

According to sports journalist André Marín, El Tri will face Brazil National Team on a friendly match as preparation for Qatar 2022, a game that the Aztec squad doesn't have many chances of winning if they keep playing like they have played in their recent matches, where they weren't able to beat Costa Rica in Estadio Azteca.

What will happen to Martino if they lose?

Reports suggest that the Mexican Football Federation isn't sure that "Tata" is the right coach for El Tri in the last part of the 2022 cycle, as he hasn't showed enough capability to overcome the results, which is why they haven't stopped looking for potential replacements.

If Martino and El Tri loses against A Canarinha, it will prove that he's not prepared for the rivals that Mexico National Team might face in the World Cup, which will open the door for his dismissal and the arrival of a more prepared coach.

Who can replace Gerardo Martino?

As FMF are still looking for coaches that have the level required and are willing to take over a challenge as big as Mexico National Team with less than a year to establish a system, Miguel Herrera is the one winning the race.

Rumors point towards a reunion between Herrera and El Tri, as he already did something similar prior Brazil 2014. He'd have to leave his job in Tigres, but it's a sacrifice he's willing to make given that he still wants to prove what he could've done if his first stint hadn't been cut short.
