The Mexican press went crazy when they found out that Julio Furch, the lethal Atlas striker, wants to play with the Mexican National Team, but how is his paperwork going?
The Argentinean, who plays for the Zorros and was a key player in the club's second championship in more than 70 years, wants to represent El Tri.
But despite how much he wants to play for the Mexican national team, there is something that still prevents him from doing so, and that is his naturalization procedures.
Unfortunately for the player and the fans of the Mexican National Team, Julio Furch's naturalization paperwork are stuck due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is sweeping Mexico and the world.
Due to this situation, the player still cannot be considered eligible to play for El Tri and represent Mexico. And this decision by Furch has been applauded by fans of the Aztec squad.
"The issue has not yet come out, my naturalization has been stuck with the pandemic. The thing is that the people who help me are finding out if it can come out these days to let us know so that we can resume it and I always want to, I have to raise my level to be eligible. It happens that there are great strikers and the chance may come. Wait for the letter. Then do things right to be called", explained the Argentinean on the subject.
The Argentine striker, who helped Atlas to win its second crown in more than 70 years, explained that he wants to represent the Mexican National Team because he owes a lot to Mexico, where he has developed his career.
"Because Mexico has given me a lot, it gave me my daughter, I have spent most of my career in Mexico, I have been playing in Mexico longer than in Argentina, so it has given me a lot to me, to my family, to my career and it would be a very nice thing to represent Mexico and defend the jersey, I think it would be the finishing touch to my career and we are in the process, hopefully, it can happen," the striker told TUDN.
In the current Clausura 2022 Tournament, Furch has accumulated only 2 goals, so if he wants to be eligible for the Mexican National Team, he will have to increase his goal quota.
And he has the opportunity to do so today, when the Zorros del Atlas host Necaxa at the Jalisco Stadium, who are coming off a 1-0 loss to Club América.
