Mexico qualified for the Tokyo Olympics!

Just a few days ago, according to Statskicks, the national defender has the best average of tackles and interceptions among all central defenders in the five best leagues in Europe.

And as soon as this information was released, Mexican national team fans began to complain to Gerardo Martino about why he did not call him up for the last World Cup Qualifiers.

Johan Vásquez, one of the highlights of Genoa vs Roma in Serie A

In today's Serie A clash of Genoa vs Roma, Johan Vásquez played the full 90 minutes of the match and started at left-back, making five clearances, three interceptions in the match, and one cross from two successful attempts.

Despite his efforts, his team has failed to perform well in the league and is currently at the bottom of the overall table of the competition, which even puts his team on the brink of relegation.

And today in the match against Roma, the team did not manage to get the victory even though they tried. Therefore, the highlight of the match was the defensive actions of the Mexican.

Did Johan Vásquez send a message to Gerardo Martino through Twitter?

After the match of Matchday 24 of the Serie A concluded, Vásquez uploaded on his Twitter account a photo of himself during the match, and the phrase "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger".

The tweet immediately went viral because followers of the Mexican national soccer team thought that the message was a hint to Gerardo Martino, who has not called him up to El Tri, despite the great moment the player is living in Italy.

And it is not the first time that the coach of the Mexican national team has faced this criticism, as a few days ago, at the end of the match against Panama, the coach had to face questioning from the press

And one of those questions was precisely why Johan Vasquez had not been called up. Martino replied at the time: "Today's center backs (Néstor Araujo and César Montes) were the two best players of the match".

And that is why the player's tweet today was taken by fans as a message addressed to Martino.
