Mexico National Team will play on Sunday night against Honduras with the objective of earning the three points and with it the ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, something they haven’t yet been able to do as they lost two games in November and have tied more than expected.
Guillermo Ochoa revealed the reason why he was a wall against USMNT
Those same results and the irregularity that El Tri has showed since the CONCACAF Nations League have now Gerardo “Tata” Martino without the certainty of knowing if he’ll be the coach that will be with the Aztec squad in Qatar 2022.
In the Mexican Football Federation, they are still wondering if the Argentine coach is the right decision going forward, which is why they are still looking for potential replacements in case they decide to part ways with Martino.
One of the coaches that has gathered attention recently is Nicolás Larcamón, who arrived in Liga MX for the start of Clausura 2021 over a year ago and since then he has helped Club Puebla to leave the bottom of the table and become a real contender.
During an interview with Luis García from TV Azteca, Larcamón was questioned about his future and if he saw himself coaching El Tri, to what he answered that coaching both the Mexican and Argentinean national teams would be a dream for him.
He also said that for the moment, he respects the process El Tri is having with Martino, who is a great coach in his opinion, but if the opportunity arrived, he would take it, although for now he is focused on helping Puebla achieve their goals.
But if he was to arrive in El Tri prior Qatar 2022, something that can happen given the circumstances surrounding Martino’s health, he knows that even if Guillermo Ochoa might not be the best goalkeeper in El Tri’s roster, he is of great help in the locker room.
That’s why he would keep him on the roster, as he can help the coach to control the squad inside the pitch, given that he’s one of the leaders of El Tri. But once Qatar 2022 is over, he would stop calling him, as there are better goalkeepers than him
