Mexico National Team will face the last CONCACAF Qualifiers match window next weekend when they receive USMNT in Estadio Azteca on March 24. Then, they’ll visit Honduras on March 27 and will close their participation on March 30 in Estadio Azteca against El Salvador.
Héctor Moreno will step down from Mexico National Team thanks to this young player
Although El Tri hasn’t secured their assistance to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, if they win at least two of the three games they will secure their ticket, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone on the roster will make it to Qatar, including Gerardo “Tata” Martino.
The Argentine coach knows that if he wants to remain in El Tri’s dugout, they will have to beat US Soccer MNT, as the game of Thursday night will be the most difficult match for him since he arrived in El Tri, and a new defeat against the Bars and Stripes will mean the end of his stint in El Tri.
Hirving “Chucky” Lozano knows it, and he knows that a defeat against USMNT will be bad for them, it could also mean the arrival of a coach that actually feels the colors and can give the Aztec squad the final push to transcend in the World Cup.
The 26-year-old right-winger understands that El Tri is stuck with the same players under Gerardo Martino’s wing, as he keeps calling players like Héctor Moreno, Jesús Gallardo or Henry Martín, which is why he knows a change is needed.
Martino has also closed the doors to young promising players by keeping his usuals on the roster, something that has been a detriment for El Tri, as they are falling behind in the generational change that teams like USMNT or Canada MNT are having.
That’s why he sent a message to FMF on his social media, where he shared a photo of him with Rafael Márquez, as the former El Tri captain has the leadership and background needed to take El Tri to the fifth game in the World Cup.
After Rafael Márquez retired from professional soccer, he’s been involved in the soccer industry, as he was an executive for Atlas for a brief period before starting his preparation to become a coach, debuting in Spanish third division for a short stint before returning to Mexico. He hasn’t coached since he resigned last year, which opens the possibility to his arrival in El Tri.
Gerardo Martino didn’t call to Mexico National Team a striker because he partied with Lionel Messi
