Its no lie to say that Raúl Jiménez is one of the best strikers that Mexico currently has, as he became an idol of Wolverhampton Wanderers thanks to his outstanding performances since arriving in Premier League in 2019.

But after he returned from the head injury that had him sidelined for almost a year, Jiménez hasn’t been able to recover his scoring streak, as he has scored only six goals in the current season for Wolves, as well as assisting in four occasions.

His numbers are far from what he was used to put, and his struggle has also been reflected when he plays for Mexico National Team, as he scored just three goals in the CONCACAF Qualifiers, all of them via penalty kick.

Although it’s a good thing to have a striker that can score from the penalty mark, El Tri can’t rely on waiting for a foul in the box for him to score every game, which is why they’re looking for other strikers that can create competence in the squad, and their answer might come from Argentina.

Who is the striker that can arrive in El Tri?

According to reports, in Serie A at least one of the most important Italian clubs, Inter Milan, has showed interest in the Mexican Argentine striker Luca Martínez Dupuy, as he has established as a change-of-pace player for the Argentine side Rosario Central.

For the current season, Dupuy has played in seven games of the Argentine league and has scored one goal in the few minutes that Leandro Somoza has given him on the pitch, showing that he can be a revulsive for now, but he has the talent to soon earn a protagonist role.

Prior the start of the 2022 MLS Season, Atlanta United was pursuing his addition, although he couldn’t arrive in the American top flight given that Rosario Central didn’t agree on terms that benefited them, but the fact that he’s gathered attention for multiple leagues only speaks of his skills and his possible departure to a bigger league.

Can he play for El Tri?

Martínez Dupuy was born in Mexico on an Argentine household, which is why he could play for the team he wishes to. But since it was Mexico the first that opened the doors for him, he’s said multiple times that he wants to wear El Tri colors and he’s even been part of the U-20 and U-21 squads.
