It’s become clear that Mexico National Team need a generational change, as the players that now give shape to El Tri are not on optimal conditions or are already on the last stages of their career, although Argentinean coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino keeps calling them.

A lot of names are starting to come out after El Tri’s last game of 2021, where Mexico faced Chile National Team on a friendly match that was full of young players having their first opportunity to defend Mexico’s senior squad, including Marcelo Flores and Israel Reyes, among others.
But Mexico has yet to call Richard Ledezma, who is set to be one of the most important strikers in the future, not just from Mexico. He already debuted with his actual team, Dutch side PSV, and is on pace to be worth more than young Mexican gem, Marcelo Flores.

He played for USMNT Academy teams during his youth, and although he already debuted with the senior squad in 2020, he can still defend El Tri, as he hasn’t played on an official match yet. Ledezma recently returned to activity, after being out of the pitches for over a year as a result of a torn ACL.
