Although he had six more months on his contract with the Guatemalan team, now Peña will have to start looking for a new team, as he desires to keep playing soccer. Even though Liga MX already is on its second round, he might return to the league that saw him grow.
According to reports, two teams are interested in the addition of the 32-year-old offensive midfielder for Clausura 2022: Chivas, one if his Liga MX former teams, and Santos Laguna, coached by Pedro Caixinha, who personally requested the signing of Peña when he was coaching Scottish side Rangers FC.

Peña will arrive as a free agent to any team that wants to sign him, but according to reports, he was earning $6,000 monthly, a figure the Liga MX teams interested in his acquisition could pay him. His market value is established at $230,000.
