No matter what Mexico National Team does, Gerardo Martino will be questioned about the players he decides to call until he finally realizes that most of the current players in the Aztec roster don’t have the level required to defend El Tri colors.

Although El Tri managed to earn 7 points in the past FIFA match window, it was clear that the current strikers that Martino calls are going through a rough patch, especially Rogelio Funes Mori, who couldn’t score in any of the matches he played.
But Martino insists on calling him no matter what, not even if there’s Mexican strikers around the world that could do a better job than him, like Alejandro Viniegra, who was recently acquired by Brazilian side Red Bull Bragantino.
The 19-year-old forward was born in Brazil but holds dual Brazilian and Mexican citizenship as his mother is Mexican. He started his professional career with Cruzeiro Esporte Clube in 2018, but in 2020 joined North Texas SC, playing two seasons in the US Soccer third division before returning to Brazil with RB Bragantino.
