It’s most likely than not that Mexico National Team will secure their ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup on March 30, after the upcoming FIFA match window ends, even with their most recent performances that have raised questions, as the team looks lost at moments, and every time they lose the ball in the midfield the counterattacks turn dangerous.

Gerardo Martino doesn’t want “Chicharito” in El Tri

Although it’s true that the soccer level that most of the National Teams in CONCACAF have is enough to help El Tri be part of the 32 teams that will dispute the World Cup, with the current roster, the Aztecs won’t be able to compete with some of the strongest National Teams.

Gerardo “Tata” Martino has been criticized for calling the same players over and over again, given that most of his favorite players either have been erased in their clubs or regularly play just a few minutes each game, like Andrés Guardado and Héctor Herrera.

Will Gerardo Martino change El Tri’s roster for the World Cup?

Héctor Herrera especially has been questioned every time he wears El Tri colors, as he looks slow and without ideas on the pitch, but Martino insists on calling him because he plays in Europe, instead of giving another player the chance of show himself.

Who could replace Herrera in El Tri?

It’s true that most of the problems Herrera faces in El Tri are a direct result of the few playing time he has in Atlético Madrid, as we all know of the talent he has. But until he gains regularity or leaves Atlético Madrid, his spot in El Tri could be taken by Juan Pablo Vigón.

The 30-year-old Tigres midfielder has made himself an essential player for Miguel Herrera, as he’s played the six games of Clausura 2022 and even has scored two goals. He can both distribute the ball to any open forward but also helps in the defensive duties if Tigres needs it, something that Herrera has stopped doing, as he forgets to follow the play whenever El Tri loses the ball in midfield.

What’s in store for Mexico National Team?

Mexico National Team will face the final CONCACAF Qualifiers match window in March, in what will be their toughest match of the year until now, when they receive USMNT on March 24 in Estadio Azteca, looking to break a three-game losing streak against the Bars and Stripes.

El Tri will also visit a Honduras National Team that will try to close their participation in the World Cup Qualifiers the most dignified possible way, as they have yet to win their first match. Finally, the Aztec squad will receive El Salvador on March 30.
