Alan Mozo has become one of the best right-backs in Liga MX thanks to his performances at Pumas, where he became the best Mexican assistant in Clausura 2022 and was a key player for Los Universitarios on their search for the CONCACAF Champions League, where they were runners-up.

But not even the good numbers he had throughout the season made Gerardo “Tata” Martino to consider him for the games that the Mexican national team played in January and March, as he considered that Jorge Sánchez was enough.
Mozo knows that he could do a better job than Sánchez, which is why he’s looking to move from Pumas and arrive at Chivas, where the demands will be bigger but also the showcase, hoping to prove to the Argentine coach that he deserves to be called up.
According to reports, Martino wasn’t keen on giving Mozo the chance of wearing El Tri colors after he learned about his involvement in a fight with former U-23 coach Jaime Lozano when he informed the right-back that he was not going to be part of the team that went to the Tokyo Olympics.
But even if Martino didn’t consider him for the friendly games that El Tri will play in the upcoming week, the 25-year-old right-back received his call-up for the friendly game against Guatemala that was played back in April, although he couldn’t play because the final of the CCL was played at the same time.
That call-up, added to the fact that he’ll play in one of the two biggest teams in Liga MX have incremented the chances of playing with El Tri in September, when they face the last friendly games before the World Cup, but only if he manages to become a regular with El Rebaño Sagrado.
