Gerardo “Tata” Martino knows that El Tri needs to improve the level that they showed during the CONCACAF Qualifiers if they want to be able to compete in the World Cup, and one of the first things that they will have to improve is the scoring streak, as they barely managed to score in the qualifying stage.

Henry Martín won’t make it to Qatar

One of the players that hasn’t been of much contribution to El Tri is Henry Martín, as the Club América striker only managed to score two goals in the Qualifiers, given that he’s been going through a scoring drought that has also affected his confidence.

Even if Martino gave him the chance of playing with El Tri in the friendly games over the summer, he already found a striker that will replace him in the final roster, as Martino himself said that he’s waiting for Julio Furch to receive his naturalization letter to call him up to El Tri.

Furch has become one of the most solid strikers in Liga MX since joining Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz back in 2015. So far, he’s also played for Santos Laguna and currently Atlas, where he was a key player for the back-to-back Liga MX titles that Los Rojinegros just won.
