It’s no surprise that FC Barcelona is looking to acquire a couple players before the current transfer window ends, especially with Ansu Fati’s injury and the most probable departure of Dembélé, after he was informed that he needs to find a new club before January 31.

But with the current financial situation the Blaugranas are facing, their options are limited and are constrained until Dembélé leaves, which is why Xavi Hernández has been looking for players on an affordable price, or even better if they can get them on a loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy.
That’s why Xavi has set his eyes in Eredivisie side AFC Ajax, especially in both Edson Álvarez and Nicolás Tagliafico, although his priority is the 29-year-old Argentinian left-back, as he’s more affordable and is willing to arrive in Barcelona on a loan.

With only a week before the winter transfer window ends, Ajax is still reluctant to loan two of their most valuable players, but they’d let them go if the right offer arrives in Amsterdam Arena. Edson Álvarez’s current market value is set at $22.7 million.
