Gerardo “Tata” Martino is in desperate need of good results during the upcoming FIFA Qualifiers after the way things end for Mexico National Team last year, when El Tri lost three games in a row with most hated rival USMNT, but thing might not be working in his favor.

Even if FMF already asked permission to the European clubs to lend their footballers for the games El Tri will dispute at the end of January and the beginning of February, three clubs are thinking of keeping their Mexican players, something that will harm Martino’s aspirations of reaching the World Cup.

English side Wolves, Italian side Napoli and Portuguese side Porto FC are considering retaining Raúl Jiménez, Hirving Lozano and José de Jesús Corona, given the sanitarian conditions that the world is into, as the Omicron variant keeps breaking records of positive tests in America.

What could happen to El Tri?

In case the international players don’t join Mexico National Team, “Tata” Martino could use some of the players he tried during the last game El Tri played in 2021, where Martino called a side-b national team full of youngsters that mainly play in Liga MX.
