Although Napoli were winning comfortably against Empoli, things got complicated in the second half and they ended up losing the duel in Tuscany by 3-2. Hirving Lozano was a starter and played 68 minutes, which were the best for the Neapolitan team, who began to show their weaknesses in the last ten minutes.

The opening goals came from Mertens ('44) and Insigne ('53). Although the home side had had a few dangerous chances, they were unable to trouble goalkeeper Meret, who was accurate when called upon.

Not much happened in the second half either and Lozano was an interesting option for the visitors on the wing, as he helped give Napoli's play width, who often couldn't find anyone to connect with in the middle.

Napoli lost a two-goal lead in 10 minutes

When Lozano came off the pitch in the 68th minute, things began to get complicated for Napoli, until Henderson scored in the 80th minute to make it 2-1.  However, Pinamonti completed the feat with an agonizing double to put the final 3-2 in favor of the locals, who left Napoli practically out of the fight for the Scudetto with five points less and a game more than the leader Inter.
