Gerardo “Tata” Martino knew that, for the upcoming FIFA match window, he had to call the best Mexican players available, as results weren’t on his favor last year, after losing 3 times against USMNT and falling to third position in FIFA Qualifiers.

But after revealing the 30-men roster Mexico National Team will have for the matches against Jamaica, Costa Rica and Panamá, it was clear that Martino decided to keep calling his favorite players and not the best available.
Uriel Antuna hasn’t been a regular on the past year with Chivas, his former team, as the scandals and his lifestyle outside the pitches prevented him of performing at the level he was supposed to, but that didn’t stop Martino from calling him, although there were better options.

Antuna was suspended from Chivas after throwing a party and sneaking women in the camp of the team, something that Chicharito also did when he was part of El Tri and that earned him a veto from Martino’s side, something he decided to ignore in Antuna’s case.
