Carlos Vela hasn’t played a single match with Mexico National Team after the 2-0 defeat of El Tri against Brazil in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He has yet to debut with Gerardo Martino on the dugout, but it seems that “Tata” wasn’t keen on calling him.
Is Televisa behind the absence of Carlos Vela in Mexico National Team?
It didn’t matter that Vela won the MVP Landon Donovan during the 2019 MLS Season, when he scored 34 goals -breaking the previous record established by Josef Martínez, with 31 goals- and 15 assistances, numbers much needed now in El Tri, giving their lack of goals.
But now, Vela is close to playing in Liga MX for the first time, as his contract with Los Angeles FC ends on the summer, which could boost his return to El Tri before the World Cup. He knows it and Gerardo Martino also knows it. But in order to complete his return, he’s asking for three more players to join him.
Vela knows that Marcelo Flores is one of the most promising players El Tri has, which is why he could help him boost his career if they coincide in El Tri. Johan Vásquez will be the second one, as the defender keeps impressing everyone in Italy. Javier “Chicharito” Hernández will be the third player that Vela asks to return to El Tri with him, as they both now play in LA and knows he still can help the Aztecs.
This is the reason why Carlos Vela hasn’t played with El Tri again
