Alcántar had his debut with the first team in Clausura 2022, in the 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul. Although he only played 29 minutes, he’s been in the bench for several games, showing that Jaime Lozano has considered him given his skills and abilities.
If Alcántar ends up leaving Liga MX to join Bayer Leverkusen and manages to earn regularity, Gerardo “Tata” Martino could consider him to be part of the roster that plays in Qatar 2022, as he’d arrive with a better streak than players like Héctor Moreno or Jesús Gallardo.
The probabilities of Alcántar leaving for Europe once Clausura 2022 is over are high, as the Bundesliga team is not the only one interest in him. According to the same report, Serie A side Milan AC and Primeira Liga side SC Benfica also are following him closely.
