Andrés Guardado is one of the best Mexican players that Mexico National Team has had in recent years. In the past month he also became the Mexican with most games played in Europe, surpassing Hugo Sánchez’s record, and now has over 500 games.
Lionel Messi could be the key El Tri needs to finally replace Gerardo Martino
But Guardado knows that, at 34, he’s facing the last few years of his career, which is why he’s now considering returning to Liga MX after leaving Atlas in 2007 to join La Liga side RCD LA Coruña, although his return to Mexican soccer wouldn’t be with Los Zorros.
Guardado has said in the past that he would love to retire playing for Atlas, a club he’ll always have in his heart, but given the recent changes the club has gone through, he doesn’t feel welcomed or valued by the new ownership, which is why he has closed the doors for a return to the Rojiblancos.
Given his friendship with Guillermo Ochoa, Andrés Guardado would consider signing with Club América as soon as they reach out, not only because he’d be able to share dressing room with Ochoa for the first time outside of El Tri, but also because he knows is one of Liga MX’s most successful clubs.
