He had a long career in which he played in five different countries, but when he arrived in Mexico, he decided to defend El Tri colors. He was part of Mexico National Team for the 2006 World Cup in Germany and for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Guillermo Franco arrived in Liga MX in 2002, to play for Monterrey out from San Lorenzo de Almagro. He played four seasons for Rayados before joining Spanish side Villarreal FC. He also had a second stint in Mexico when he arrived in CF Pachuca in 2012, where he played for 9 months before joining MLS Chicago Fire.
Now, after retiring in the MLS, he established a business that focuses on recycling scrap metal to give it a different use. He’s still related to soccer too, as he has been a coach for different teams, including the U-20 squad of Rayados, one of his most beloved teams.

During his first stint in Mexico, he acquired the Mexican citizenship in 2005, becoming an eligible player for Ricardo La Volpe, who didn’t think twice and called him to joined Mexico National Team, where he played in three games during the 2006 World Cup.
