After the 3-2 victory against Santos Laguna that Club América managed to achieve in their visit to TSM, it seemed that Las Águilas were finally getting back on track as they won their first game of 2022 and left the bottom part of Liga MX table.
Las Águilas and El Rebaño could play a official Liga MX Clásico in the United States
But on their visit to El Kraken, Santiago Solari’s squad demonstrated why they’re far from the performances they gave last season, when they were Liga MX leaders, as they were only able to score against Nicolás Vikonis once on the last minutes of the game.
Las Águilas showed every weakness they have, from Guillermo Ochoa’s lack of solidity on the goal line to Henry Martín’s bad aim, as he had at least three chances to score but couldn’t find the end of the net. Mazatlán only needed one half to impose over América as they scored their two goals in the first half of the match.
It’s clear that Club América has lost their course, as they have just 4 points in 5 games for Clausura 2022, in what has become their worst start since in 19 years in Liga MX. Although Solari is backed up by Santiago Baños, his position in Club América now hangs by a thread, as Las Águilas are becoming the laughingstock of Mexican soccer.
