Chivas has had a disappointing start for Clausura 2022, where the 3-0 victory over Mazatlán in the opening game was more an illusion than the reality of the Guadalajara team that has looked lost on the pitch in their other 3 matches, and mistakes have been the constant for them.
Monterrey keeps pursuing the addition of Alexis Vega, who has yet to renew his contract with Chivas
Things have been like that for a while, after Matías Almeyda left El Rebaño Sagrado for alleged differences with Chivas management -back then Jorge Vergara was still owner and chairman-. And since Amaury Vergara took over, it’s clear that Chivas doesn’t have a project strong enough to put them back on the first pages of Liga MX.
Rumors suggest that Mexican entrepreneur Carlos Bremer is potentially interested in buying Chivas, but Amaury Vergara, advised by his late father, won’t sell the team, at least until he manages to make them Liga MX champion, something that, right now, seems impossible of achieving.
In the hypothetical case that Amaury Vergara was keen on selling Chivas, according to Jorge Vergara, Chivas wouldn’t be sold for less than $800 million, although the brand’s value is set to be worth $311.5 million.
