Juan Reynoso insists on benching Santiago Giménez in Cruz Azul

Jaime Ordiales, Cruz Azul’s sporting director, has been looking for an excuse to part ways with the Peruvian coach given the enmity that exists between them, which is why he demanded that La Máquina wins a title this season if Reynoso wants to stay in Cruz Azul.

At the start of the season, Cruz Azul was one of the strongest contenders for both Liga MX title and the CCL, but now that their only hope is to win Clausura 2022 and with teams like Club América, Chivas, Monterrey, Pachuca and even Club Puebla playing better than them, it looks almost impossible that they earn a second title in a year.

That’s why Ordiales is already looking for a replacement for Reynoso and one of the favorite coaches to replace him is Matías Almeyda, with whim he already had negotiated previously, although Cruz Azul decided to sign Juan Reynoso instead.

Almeyda wants three additions for La Máquina

Matías Almeyda recently parted ways with San José Earthquakes after coaching the MLS team for three and a half seasons. Even if he was on his last year of contract with the Quakes, he decided to leave them for good to have the freedom to negotiate with his next team.

According to reports, Almeyda didn’t arrive at Cruz Azul for Clausura 2021 given the high release clause that the Quakes placed on his contract, but now that he’s free, Ordiales is willing to fulfill his requests to ensure his presence in La Máquina dugout for next season.

Almeyda, who follows Liga MX closely, knows that Cruz Azul needs a striker, as Brayan Angulo recently left and Santiago Giménez is living his last months in La Máquina, which is why he wants to sign Eduardo “Chofis” López, a player who he knows from the Quakes.

The other two additions are also former Chivas players

The second player that he wants in Cruz Azul is Rodolfo Cota, as José de Jesús Corona could leave at the end of the season and Sebastián Jurado has yet to solve his inconsistencies. Finally, Carlos Fierro is the other player that Almeyda wants, to give “Chofis” the perfect complement for him.
