After the worst start in over 19 years for Club América in Liga MX, where they’ve managed to earn just a point to stand 16 in Clausura 2022, it’s clear that Santiago Solari has a lot of work to do if he wants to turn things around. The only question is: will he have enough time?
Miguel Layún will miss two weeks after being sent off in Club América’s last game
For the first time since arriving in Las Águilas, Solari has a roster build by himself, although Santiago Baños couldn’t acquire all the players he wanted. But not even now he’s making Club América play like they should, as they lost last weekend against the worst team in Liga MX.
On top of that, the Argentinian coach earns $2 million per season, a salary that does not reflect what his team is doing on the pitch. That’s why Emilio Azcárraga is already looking for someone to replace him, and Rafael Márquez has become the strongest name on the mix.
Currently, “El Kaiser” is working on finishing his UEFA PRO certification, but the Mexican former defender would accept arriving in El Nido half of what Solari is earning, just if he gets to sit three players, he considers their time has passed: Roger Martínez, Bruno Valdez and Richard Sánchez.
