Although things for Chivas have returned to the right track since Amaury Vergara decided to sack Marcelo Michel Leaño and replace him with Ricardo Cadena for the remainder of Clausura 2022, they will have to deal with several players that are coming at the end of their contract over the summer.

For now, El Rebaño is focused on making it into Repechaje with the home advantage, something that they’ll achieve if they manage to beat Club Necaxa on the last game of the regular season, but after Clausura 2022 is over, they will have to try and retain most of them.

One of the players that will leave El Rebaño Sagrado over the summer is Raúl Gudiño, especially since he’s been erased from the starting XI as a punishment for not wanting to renew his contract under the conditions established by Chivas.

Alexis Vega could join Raúl Gudiño, and even if he’s under contract until December, once the current season is over, he’ll have the chance of negotiating his arrival as a free agent with any team he wants, which is why he’s become one of the most followed players in Liga MX.

Monterrey has competition for Vega’s acquisition

CF Monterrey has been one of the teams interested in acquiring the 24-year-old left-winger since before Clausura 2022 started, as they knew that Vega wasn’t feeling comfortable in Chivas after El Rebaño parted ways with Uriel Antuna.

But now that the summer transfer window is approaching, Miguel Herrera and Tigres have joined the pursue, as according to reports from sports journalist Vladimír García from TUDN, Los Felinos are looking to strength their squad for next season.

Both Monterrey teams are two of Liga MX clubs with more purchasing power, and they know if they want to convince Alexis Vega to join either one of them, they will have to offer him a salary increase, which is why Tigres are offering him $3 million per season.

Has he considered staying at Chivas?

Although Alexis Vega has said that his priority is to remain in El Rebaño Sagrado, he knows that he’ll have to deal with Ricardo Peláez, who hasn’t moved from the first offer he did to Vega, which he refused, but hasn’t change his status to transferable either.
