Since Fernando “Tano” Ortíz became interim coach of Club América, Las Águilas have become one of the strongest contenders of Clausura 2022, as they are just one victory away from accessing Liguilla directly after being at the bottom of the table during the first half of the season.

Thanks to the six victories in a row that Las Águilas have, they were able to leave behind the crisis that Santiago Solari left during the eight rounds that he coached the Azulcremas, as they only won one game and tied three more.

On the upcoming the weekend, Club América will have the opportunity to prove why they should be candidates to win Liga MX when the face Cruz Azul for the last game of the regular season, as with a victory not only will they crush La Máquina’s aspirations but also show that they can beat anyone.

But the good streak in which Las Águilas currently are, is not thanks to the work of Santiago Baños, as he was the main responsible of Solari’s arrival at El Nido, as well as the poor results that América has gathered in the past four years.

Brailovsky is ready to take his place

That’s why Emilio Azcárraga is seriously considering parting ways with him once the season is over, and he already has the perfect successor: Daniel Brailovsky, as “El Ruso” is someone identified with the team and feels the colors.

Brailovsky played with América during the 80s and then coached them in the 2000s, which is why he knows what things are currently missing in Las Águilas structure, including some players that will improve the roster.

“El Ruso” already has two names in mind as soon as he replaces Baños. The first one will be to replace Jonathan dos Santos, who has been irrelevant for the few months that he’s been in Las Águilas. The departure of Dos Santos will be filled with Víctor Guzmán, from CF Pachuca.

Valdez will leave if Brailovsky arrives

“El Ruso” Brailovsky is aware that Bruno Valdez hasn’t been of much help defensively in the past year, which is why he is looking to replace him with Israel Reyes from Club Puebla, as the 21-year-old defender has become one of the best defenders in Liga MX.
