Even if Juan Reynoso was the first coach that gave Cruz Azul their first Liga MX title in over 23 years, he has been questioned multiple times by the current sports director, Jaime Ordiales, who opposed to his arrival in La Máquina when he was first hired.

Reynoso quickly proved him wrong, as it only took him six months to become Liga MX champions, but that hasn’t erased the bad relationship between Ordiales and him, relationship that has aggravated given the irregular results Cruz Azul has had in Clausura 2022.

But even if La Máquina has been relegated to the fifth position in Liga MX table, they’re still one of the biggest contenders for the current season, and they’re still pursuing the CONCACAF Champions League title, as they will play the semifinals on April.

His stint with La Máquina hasn’t gone unnoticed and a new team is on the mix to acquire his services, something that might happen over the summer once the current season is over, and Cruz Azul has time to look for a new coach.

Which team wants to sign Reynoso?

According to reports from sports media Líbero, The Peruvian Football Federation is contemplating having Juan Reynoso as the replacement of Ricardo Gareca if Peru National Team doesn’t manage to reach the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

His arrival to La Blanquirroja will have to wait intel the next FIFA match window ends, as Peru still has chances of accessing to Qatar 2022, as they are standing sixth, just one point behind Uruguay, who have the last ticket, with two more games to be played.

But if Ricardo Gareca fails to give Peru the ticket to Qatar 2022, Los Incas will place an offer in the table for acquiring the services of Reynoso, as they are willing to double the salary he earns now with Cruz Azul, paying him $3 million per year instead of $1.5 that La Máquina gives him per season.

What’s in store for Peru?

Peru will face Uruguay on March 24 in a game that can decide the last CONMEBOL team that will have chance of playing in Qatar, as they will have to face a playoff game in June. The Blanquirroja will also face Paraguay in the last game of the Qualifiers.
