Club América was able to win in Estadio Azteca for the first time in over five months last weekend when they beat CD Toluca by a 3-0 score that could have been bigger if players like Henry Martín or Roger Martínez would have showed better aim.

Fernando Ortíz did in 45 minutes what Santiago Solari couldn’t do in 8 games with Club América

It was the third game since Santiago Solari left Las Águilas and the first in which the system implemented by Fernando “Tano” Ortíz was noticeable, as the team look more synchronized than ever in the current season, and the free kicks and corner kicks were a factor that benefited Club América.

With the victory against Los Diablos, Emilio Azcárraga and Santiago Baños had a breath of fresh air and can almost guarantee the stay of “Tano” Ortíz as their coach for the remainder of the season, giving them more time to explore the market.

For now, reports suggest that the coach that has caught their attention the most is Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, as the FC Juárez coach is having a rough time with Los Bravos and is looking to arrive to one of Liga MX teams that can actually contend to win the title.

What does Ferretti ask to arrive in América?

According to reports by sports journalist David Medrano, even if Bravos is trying to extend Ferretti’s contract, he’s decided to leave FC Juárez at the end of the season, when his contract expires, as he knows that there’s not much he can do to help them.

His departure from Bravos opens the door for Club América to pursue his signing, something Ferretti would consider, given the vast roster that América has and the economical possibilities of acquiring top players, something he doesn’t have in Juárez.

But in order to arrive in América, Ferretti is asking to replicate the system he had implemented when he has coaching Tigres, where he had full control of all sporting decisions, including the acquisitions of new players without having an intermediary, which could mean the dismissal of Santiago Baños.

Baños could leave Las Águilas soon

Baños could be on his last season as Las Águilas chairman, given that the results that Club América has gathered during his stint haven’t backed him up, as they’ve won just one Liga MX title since he arrived in 2017. Azcárraga could accept the request of Ferretti and fire Baños at the end of Clausura 2022.
