When Club América jumped on the pitch for their game against CF Pachuca, the absence of Álvaro Fidalgo in Santiago Solari’s starting XI was one of the most surprising things, given than the Spanish midfielder has been one of the best players for Las Águilas in Clausura 2022.
This Club América player should retire before he keeps embarrassing himself
Although Fidalgo replaced Miguel Layún at 69’, he didn’t have enough time to help Club América turn things around in the third straight game losing in Estadio Azteca in Clausura 2022, and even seemed mad at some of his teammates that looked tired and stopped running.
Although people couldn’t understand his absence, the apparition of Miguel Layún as defensive midfielder was the only thing that was more surprising, as he has never played on that position before and was out of shape as he was suspended for the last two games.
It’s known the influence that Televisa has in what happens with Club América, both in and out of the pitch, and given that Miguel Layún is one of the most recognizable players, they had to found him a spot in the starting XI, even if it wasn’t on the position he usually plays and meant to sit their best player.
Is Santiago Baños on his last days as Las Águilas chairman?
