Cruz Azul is starting to become a victim of the tight schedule they have in the current season, given that between February and March, they will play a total of 12 games, including the four they still have left in the next 10 days.
Juan Reynoso could leave Cruz Azul for Peru and Hugo Sánchez will be his replacement
Even with the competitive roster they have, the lack of rest is starting to take its toll within La Máquina, as they were able to beat Canadian side Forge FC by an aggregate of 4-1, but they’ve also been able to win just one of the last five Liga MX games they’ve played.
In addition to the recent results, the tense relationship between Juan Reynoso and Jaime Ordiales keeps complicating things which is why Reynoso is looking for a way out of La Máquina and his opportunity could come from Peru National Team, given that they will part ways with Ricardo Gareca if La Blanquirroja doesn’t play in Qatar 2022.
For his part, Ordiales is already looking for a potential replacement for Reynoso, and his favorite seems to be Hugo Sánchez, who is willing to take over the job given the competitive roster they have and that they’re not only fighting for Liga MX bur also for the CONCACAF Champions League.
If his arrival in La Máquina becomes a reality, Hugo Sánchez will try to convince Andrés Guardado to return to Mexico, something he’s said in the past he wants to do, as he knows he’s on the last part of his career.
The arrival of Guardado is possible given the good relationship they both have, as they are the two top Mexican players with most games played in Europe, a record that Sánchez held for a long time, but that Guardado broke this year.
Guardado even recently posted a series of pictures in which they are having diner together, as they both live in Spain, and added a caption that says: “It’s a real privilege and a luxury being able to share stories with one of the biggest, Hugo Sánchez. Thanks for the time, penta!”
The 35-year-old midfielder is on his last year of contract with Real Betis, which opens the door to any club to start negotiating with him. But even if his arrival was as a free agent, La Máquina would have to pay him a salary around $1.7 million, which is what Guardado currently earns in Betis.
