The facade of La Noria dawned without the Cruz Azul logo. The reason is that the current administration of the team began the registration of a new one at the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property, which means that the team has a new logo and its name is no longer "Deportivo Cruz Azul" or "Cruz Azul Futbol Club AC", but "Club de Futbol Cruz Azul".
The Uruguayan striker that Diego Aguirre could sign for Cruz Azul
At the IMPI, on May 25, 2022, Cruz Azul, through attorney Rafael Anzures, initiated the registration of 15 shields and the request for a change of name for La Máquina Celeste, the new logo is a similar model to the previous one, but without the stars of the nine championships won by the Celeste team. In addition, the club is now recognized as "Club de Futbol Cruz Azul".
The brand, name, shield, and even the design of Cruz Azul's rabbit-shaped mascot are owned by Guillermo Álvarez Cuevas, former president of La Máquina since 2015 and at least until 2025, according to several official documents.
The change of Cruz Azul's shield and name helps to move away from Guillermo Billy Álvarez since the previous ones were registered under the name of "Cruz Azul Futbol Club AC" or the corporate name of "Club Deportivo Social y Cultural Cruz Azul", in which the former president of La Máquina Celeste or some of his family members still appeared, who have assured that they will return to the fight for the team.
Prior to the new registration, Cruz Azul used the previous shield under a license, which allowed it to exploit the logo. The current one, which does not have the champion stars, will be registered under the corporate name "COOPERATIVA LA CRUZ AZUL, S.C.L.", in which Guillermo Billy Álvarez no longer has management.
