After Club América finished as leader in Apertura 2021 with 35 points, as a result of 10 victories, 5 draws and only 2 defeats, Las Águilas have had one of their worst starts in a Liga MX tournament in their history for Clausura 2022, with only 4 points after five games.

The most incredible thing about the difference of performances from one season to another is that both Santiago Solari and the roster are the same, and even the Argentinean coach was able to acquire some players to strengthen the squad, although it seems they did the opposite.
Although Santiago Baños and Emilio Azcárraga have stated that they back up Solari’s project and they hope he’ll turn things around, they have started looking up for a replacement in case the poor results keep coming.
According to reports, “El Capitán Furia” is ready to take over Las Águilas, a club he knows well, both as a player and a coach. When he played for Club América, Alfredo Tena won 6 Liga MX titles, something he has yet to accomplish as a coach, as he hasn’t won a Liga MX title with Las Águilas in his three previous stints.
