Club América is going through one of their worst crises in recent years, as they haven’t found regularity in Clausura 2022, which is why they are standing last with only six points after nine rounds played of the current season.
Club América might have found the perfect replacement for Santiago Solari
Las Águilas are lacking players that can make a difference, outside of Salvador Reyes and Álvaro Fidalgo, who have been the most consistent players in the roster despite the poor results they have in the current season.
Added to the lack of a solid project -Santiago Solari is no longer part of América and Fernando “Tano” Ortíz is only coaching the first team until Santiago Baños and Emilio Azcárraga decide to hire a new coach-, the odds are against Las Águilas, at least for the remainder of the season.
But even if they have to wait for a new coach, Santiago Baños knows that he can take advantage of the situation of Querétaro and fill the needs in Las Águilas, as they not only need a central defender but also a striker that can actually score.
Reports suggest that América has the opportunity of acquiring the new “Chucho Benítez”, as José Angulo is known in Ecuador, given the similarities he has with the former América striker. His current market value is set at $700,000, a figure that América can easily pay.
The 26-year-old Ecuadorian striker arrived in Querétaro for the current season on a one-year loan from Club Tijuana, who has owned his economic rights since 2020, although he hasn’t played with Xolos, as he was loaned on a few teams in Ecuador before arriving in Querétaro.
So far, José Angulo has played six games of Clausura 2022, where he’s scored one goal, but the club where he stood out the most was Independiente del Valle, where he played for 65 games, scoring 26 goals and assisting 9 times.
Santiago Baños is known for mainly negotiating for players that are represented by PitZGroup. Querétaro currently has goalkeeper Antonio Rodríguez, midfielder Jorge “Burrito” Hernández and right-winger Antonio Figueroa. All of them are Mexicans, which will allow América to register them without using a non-Mexican spot.
This is the team that could replace Club Querétaro in Liga MX when it gets sold
