On Sunday night, Clausura 2022 finally finished with the 2-1 victory of CF Pachuca over Atlas FC, although the 3-2 aggregate gave Atlas Liga MX title. But regardless of the result, all teams in Mexican soccer can finally start planning what will be the 2022-23 Liga MX season, as the Champion will want to repeat but the other 17 teams are not going to let them a new title so easy.
Julio Furch will decide his future in the days following the Pachuca vs Atlas FC final
One of the teams that has been planning next season since they were eliminated in the semifinals by Pachuca is Club América, who last week announced that Fernando “Tano” Ortíz will remain as their coach for Apertura 2022.
With his naming as coach of Las Águilas, Ortíz has started organizing the movements that the Azulcremas will have, as he was especially interested in the final given that he’s after a few players that now looks difficult that they will return to their teams for next season.
According to reports from W Deportes, Las Águilas are looking to sign more Mexican players for next season, but for that to happen, they will have to part ways with some of the players in the current roster, starting with Pedro Aquino.
Although Aquino was an essential player for Club América, the Peruvian midfielder lost his place on the starting XI once he got injured while playing for Peru National Team, as Fernando Ortíz found in Richard Sánchez and Álvaro Fidalgo the perfect duo on the midfield.
The 27-year-old midfielder arrived at Club América in 2020 and even if he’s under contract until 2024, Ortíz will look to part ways with him over the summer, with the MLS likely his next destination, as he has been followed for a while by a few MLS Franchises.
Did Camilo Vargas play his last game with Atlas in the final of Clausura 2022?
