A Santos Laguna fan gave Fernando Gorriarán 2 pesos and went viral on TikTok for this reason, which made the moment headlines on major sports news sites.
Santos Laguna loses to Monterrey with an extra man and will complain about the refereeing
The moment happened when the Uruguayan midfielder was in his car, and was signing autographs when the moment that later went viral on TikTok occurred.
After finishing signing an autograph, a fan of the club approached the player's car window and gave him two pesos.
The player at first reacted surprised but took the two pesos that the fan offered him and continued on his way, after having finished signing autographs, but the moment was recorded on video.
Once the video was uploaded to TikTok, Fernando Gorriarán went viral for the reason that the moment detonated a strong discussion both in this social network and in the others in which the moment was shared.
The discussion arose as it is not known if the gesture was a way of thanking Gorriarán for his performance with the team, or if it was harsh criticism of the club for the bad tournament they had this year.
Santos Laguna currently occupies 15th place in the general table and does not have the slightest chance of reaching the Liguilla, as they do not even have the right to access the reclassification matches.
With 4 wins, 5 draws, 7 defeats, 22 goals for, but 24 against, the club is not going through its best moment and was only saved from paying the millionaire fines for the last 3 places of the tournament.
And unlike what happened with Chivas and Leaño, and Club América with Santiago Solari, the dismissal of Pedro Caixinha from Santos Laguna did not result in an improvement in the club's performance.
And Eduardo Fentanes, the interim coach left in charge of the club was unable to improve the team's performance, so it is believed that the two pesos given to Gorriarán are a criticism of the entire club.
In the current 2022 campaign, Fernando Gorriarán played 15 games with his club, in which he scored 2 goals and provided 3 goal assists, making him one of the most productive elements of the team.
However, he alone could not lift his team, which not only missed out on the Liguilla this season but was also eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions League by CF Montréal.
Therefore, it is believed that the fan's gesture was a criticism of the player and the team.
