After the failures of Cruz Azul in the last year, the board of directors has begun to plan for the future and is already working on a new restructure inside La Noria, since the departure of Juan Reynoso as head coach, which is already official, would only be the beginning of the cleanup in the dressing room that the top management has in mind and that will shake the Cementero club to its core.

The 'guillotine' in the Cementera institution is already aimed at the leaders of La Máquina: José de Jesús Corona, Julio César Domínguez, and Rafael Baca, the men who have been with the team the longest and who seemed to remain firm, no matter which coach was at the helm or which directive passed over the desk.

However, it seems that the cycle of Cruz Azul's three historical and most veteran players is about to come to an end, after the departure of Juan Reynoso, the Cementera board made the unexpected decision of not renewing their contracts and starting to plan their departure from the club and betting on new blood, as revealed by ESPN journalist León Lecanda.

The outlook for Cruz Azul's leaders

Jesús Corona

The captain's departure seems imminent and his continuity for the Apertura 2022 is not even guaranteed. At 41 years of age and with 13 years in the institution, it seems that his cycle at Cruz Azul is about to come to an end, as he has not been able to overcome the right knee injury that has kept him away from the field for more than a month, and a surgery could even end Jesús Corona's career.

Chuy's contract expires in June 2023, but the board of directors is already looking to renew the Cementero goal, having already offered Sebastián Jurado to extend his contract for four more years and is about to bring back Andrés Gudiño, two young players with whom the goalkeeping would be well covered.

Cata Domínguez

Julio César Domínguez has only worn one shirt in his entire career as a footballer: that of Cruz Azul, from the youth teams and since 2006 in the First Division. At 34 years of age, at La Noria they are already considering his departure, as they would propose that the Apertura 2022 be his farewell tournament and that he could retire as a professional in November, thus ending his contract six months earlier, as it expires in June 2023 and he will not be renewed either.

Rafa Baca

Rafa Baca, 32 years old, would put an end to his cycle in Cruz Azul after nine years of wearing the Celeste jersey, as his contract with the club ends in December 2022 and the board has no plans to renew it, so the Apertura 2022 would be the last in which the controversial midfielder will be part of the squad.
