The VAR and refereeing controversy was once again present in a match between Chivas Guadalajara and Liga MX. The referee, Cesar Antonio Ramos, had called a penalty for Toluca, but decided to back off after discussing it with the VAR.

During the action, there was an obvious push inside the area defended by Toluca, but the VAR called Cesar Antonio Ramos and told him that the action should be disallowed. In other words, there was no penalty.
