Liga MX informed that the match between Puebla and Tijuana will be held next Friday, January 28 at 9:00 p.m (CT), in the middle of the FIFA Date, after the game had to be postponed due to Covid-19 infection in the Xolos squad.

Tijuana vs Puebla was originally scheduled for last Friday, January 21. However, the border squad reported seven positive cases and, based on the agreements reached at the December 23, 2021 owners' meeting, the match had to be postponed.

Liga MX, on behalf of its president, Mikel Arriola, thanked "the willingness of both clubs" to play the match on the agreed date so as not to affect the tight schedule of the Clausura 2022, recalling that, being in a World Cup year, adjustments were made in the planning, with the particularity that the Cup in Qatar will be played between November and December.

FIFA Date

It is important to remember that this weekend Liga MX will have a recess due to the FIFA Date, so only Puebla and Tijuana will be the only teams that will be active, while the rest will be preparing for the fourth date of the Clausura 2022.

Puebla have 4 points

The Camoteros’ team will go into the match undefeated, after opening with a 1-1 draw against América at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium and then going to the Universitario Stadium to beat Tigres 2-0.

Tijuana have just 1 point

The situation with Xolos is different, as they did not win in their previous matches. They opened the Clausura 2022 with a 2-0 loss against Cruz Azul at the Estadio Azteca and then split the points against León after a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Caliente.

Puebla vs Tijuana is one of the two matches that are still pending after the first three rounds of the competition. Mazatlán vs América is the other Liga MX match pending, which from the beginning when the schedule was published appeared to have a date to be defined due to maintenance work at Kraken Stadium. However, the Sinaloa team has already informed that the match against the Águilas will take place on Wednesday, February 16.
