Since Nicolás Larcamón took over Club Puebla over a year ago, he’s become the best coach in Liga MX and one of the best arrivals in Liga MX for a long time, as he has helped one of the clubs with more problems to leave the bottom of the table and become a contender.
Ricardo Peláez finally decided to do something given the crisis that Chivas is in
In the two and a half tournaments he’s been in La Franja’s dugout, Larcamón has printed a unique style and given Los Camoteros an identity that was needed in a club that, although has a lot of history in Mexican soccer, in the past decades has been involved only in promotion and relegation, as was usual to see them in the bottom of the table.
For Clausura 2022, Club Puebla has become one of the top contenders, given that after eight rounds they are the only team that remains undefeated and are standing second, just one point behind CF Pachuca.
Given the immediate success that Larcamón has had with Club Puebla, he’s gathered interest from several Liga MX clubs, as he was linked to Pachuca before Clausura 2022 started, but also with Chivas, Club América and even with Mexico National Team.
Reports suggest that Las Águilas see in Nicolás Larcamón the perfect coach for their project after they sacked Santiago Solari for poor results, which is why they promoted Fernando “Tano” Ortíz from the u-20 squad to be the interim coach for the remainder of the season instead of hiring a new coach.
According to TVC Deportes, Las Águilas already approached the Argentine coach and Club Puebla, given that he has a release clause of $900,000 on his contract, and are negotiating for his arrival once Clausura 2022 is over.
One of Larcamón’s petitions is to be able to have with him the players he considers are reliable, which could mean a total rebuilding of the roster. Although he will strengthen the squad with players from the U-20 squad, as he’s known for giving young players a place on the senior squad, as he’s done with Puebla, where he’s debuted at least three players from the academy teams.
In Puebla they will try to retain the coach that has make them one of the best clubs in Liga MX once again, after more than 30 years of losing their protagonist role, which is why they want to give him an extension until 2023 and increase his release clause to $2 million.
Guillermo Ochoa might not renew with Club América and his next team is in MLS
