Amaury Vergara also took a decision about his future in El Rebaño.

Chivas disappointed everyone by not being able to maintain the partial victory against Atlas in Clásico Tapatío on Sunday night, as Los Zorros were able to tie the game in the last minute with a header of Julián Quiñones.

The mistake of Marcelo Michel Leaño that took the victory away from Chivas

It didn’t matter that Atlas ended the match with 9 players, as Quiñones was sent off right after his goal, and before the first half ended Jairo Torres was showed the red card after a fight with Miguel Ángel Ponce, who also was sent off and left El Rebaño with 10 men.

The draw in the Clásico Tapatío was an upsetting result, especially after Chivas couldn’t beat Club América in the Clásico Nacional a week before, where Las Águilas were able to save a scoreless draw on their visit to Estadio Akron.

Marcelo Michel Leaño is aware that not being able to win the two most important games in the season for El Rebaño Sagrado doesn’t align with his speech, which is why he finally spoke about his future as Chivas coach.

What did Michel Leaño say?

During the press conference after the game, Michel Leaño was asked about his intentions of either resigning to his position or deciding to end the season in Chivas’ dugout, given that the results don’t back him up and Chivas followers don’t want him anymore in El Rebaño.

Michel Leaño was open about his decision of maintaining his job as Chivas coach at least until Clausura 2022 ends, as for now the thought of leaving hasn’t crossed his mind, although he knows that if the results don’t start benefiting them, he might have to leave sooner than what he expected.

Amaury Vergara already decided what he will do

But Michel Leaño isn’t the only one thinking about his future in Chivas, as Amaury Vergara already decided what he will do with the Mexican coach, given that he hasn’t proved to be able to help El Rebaño leave the bad streak they currently are.

During an interview with ESPN, Vergara said that the plan is to keep Michel Leaño until the end of the season and after that they will evaluate how the team performed. The results of Clausura 2022 will determine if Michel Leaño stays in Chivas’ dugout or not.
