After Cruz Azul was able to win a Liga MX championship after a 23-year streak without titles, Luis Romo had everything to become a legend for La Máquina. But after saying he’d only leave Cruz Azul if it was to move to Europe, Romo decided to join Monterrey.
Which Liga MX player earns the most?
Romo had just six months left on his contract, and instead of taking up his word and renewing with La Máquina, he decided to join Monterrey, as they were offering him more money than what he could earn in Cruz Azul, leaving behind his dream of ever playing in Europe.
But now, after the ridicule that Monterrey made in the FIFA Club World Cup and the poor results they’ve managed to earn in Liga MX, Rayados is considering firing Javier Aguirre, who’s lone achievement so far, is winning CONCACAF Champions League, which will leave Romo helpless, as Aguirre was the one who requested his addition.
Although he decided to stay in Liga MX instead of waiting for the end of his contract and pursuing the European dream, Romo still thinks that Monterrey will help him make the jump to a top league. According to Transfermarkt, if any club wanted to sign him, they’d have to pay $11.5 million.
