Round 14 began on Thursday, April 14, with the match between Atlas and Mazatlán, where the reigning champions surprisingly lost at home to Gabriel Caballero's team. With this defeat, the ‘Zorros’ cannot regain the fourth place that was snatched from them by Monterrey in midweek thanks to their victory against Chivas. Diego Cocca's team would not advance directly to the quarterfinals and would have to play in a playoff.

Meanwhile, on Friday, three matches were played, Necaxa against San Luis, FC Juárez against Pachuca and Tijuana hosted América.

Los Rayos defeated San Luis 4-2 at home, with a great performance by strikers Giménez and Aguirre, who each scored a brace to put Necaxa into the playoff places. With this win, they reached 17 points and moved into tenth place.
