Thanks to the consistent performances that Tigres had throughout Clausura 2022, they earned a by-week that is not only used to rest and wait for their opponent in quarterfinals, but also to start planning what moves they will do for Apertura 2022.
Club América: Santiago Baños revealed who is going to coach Las Águilas in Apertura 2022
Same thing happens with Club América, who even if had one of the worst starts in Liga MX in their history, since Fernando “Tano” Martino took over the team, Las Águilas were able to resurge and finish the season in the top four.
Las Águilas are also waiting in quarterfinals to know who their rival will be on their pursue for a new Liga MX title, as they can face five different teams in the knockout stage, but “Tano” Ortíz knows that if they want to be taken seriously, they will have to beat any of the potential rivals.
And now that he’s the top candidate to become Club América coach for the 2022-23 Liga MX Season, he is also looking for player to strengthen the squad over the summer, especially on the offense, as the strikers that Las Águilas currently have haven’t been up to the expectations.
It’s no lie to say that Tigres has one of the vastest rosters of Liga MX, as all the players that are substitutes in Los Felinos could easily be starters in almost any other Liga MX team, except for CF Monterrey, who have the roster with the highest value in Mexico.
But one of the problems that comes with having a roster as big as the one they have, makes some of the players feel unhappy, especially if they don’t have the playing time expected, and according to reports from Peloteros CQ, Nicolás “Diente” López is one of those players, as he has been erased by Miguel Herrera from the starting XI.
In the current season, “El Diente” López has started only seven games and has less than 40% of the minutes played, which is why he’s looking for a fresh start and Club América seems the best place for him, as they are looking for a striker with his abilities.
If Las Águilas want to acquire the 28-year-old Uruguayan forward, they will have to pay $8 million to Tigres, which is his current market value, although they could also include the economic rights of Federico Viñas in the deal to lower the transfer fee, as Miguel Herrera was the one who requested his arrival when he was still coaching Club América.
